As a student in Bend, Oregon, I've experienced firsthand the challenges of navigating multiple platforms to keep track of my academic progress. Previously, Canvas was a central hub where I could quickly and conveniently check my grades. With our grades now available only on StudentVUE, the process has become cumbersome and less efficient. This change has made it challenging for me and my fellow students to promptly access our updated grades and manage our academic responsibilities.

Canvas was more than just a learning platform; it was a reliable tool that streamlined our educational journey. The seamless integration of assignments, feedback, and grades all in one place allowed us to stay organized and focused with minimal distraction. StudentVUE, while useful, does not provide the same level of immediacy and user-friendliness, making it inconvenient for daily academic management.

This transition not only affects students but also teachers and parents who rely on a unified platform for communication and feedback. It's essential for us to revert this change, ensuring that grades are accessible right where they are most needed—on Canvas. That’s why I am urging the administration of Bend-La Pine Schools and the relevant education technology teams to consider our request to reintegrate the grades display into Canvas for the benefit of students, teachers, and parents alike.

Moreover, multiple platforms create unnecessary complexity in an already demanding school life, potentially affecting our focus on learning. A single platform like Canvas with integrated grades means fewer distractions for students and better academic management overall.

Not to mention Canvas has the ability to see hypothetical grades , to be able to see what you may need to get on a test or assignment to achieve a certain grade. Of course this is unavailable to students through StudentVue.

By restoring grades to Canvas, we can return to a more efficient and user-friendly system that benefits everyone in the educational community of Bend, Oregon. Therefore, I am calling on my fellow students, parents, teachers, and community members to sign this petition. It is a a disgrace to our schools and community that we have made checking grades a burden to students and taken away valuable tools students would use everyday to achieve educational excellence. Let's work together to bring back grades display on Canvas and make academic management easier and more effective for everyone involved.
