Bring back dance classes in KISD Middle schools
Bring back dance classes in KISD Middle schools
The Issue
To all teachers,Vice Principal,Principals or anybody who will read this message please listen up.
As a Schinderwolf student I have participated in the dance classes this year that were provided and I respectfully request that dance classes be offered again for the following next year. A lot of kids had signed up originally but were now declined due to ¨A teacher not being available¨ which was what my friend was told when she had asked. But that doesn't mean we couldn't at least try to find another coach to teach it.
Dance isn't just a sport, it's a lot more. Not just to us but to everyone who has ever even tried to dance. It has been a valuable part of our education and overall physical health which shows in articles like https://blogs.cornell.edu/communityeducation/2021/04/29/international-dance-day-the-benefits-of-dance/ Which was provided by a Ivy League school called Cornell. Where it talks mostly about the benefits like physical, emotional, social ect.. Also another article where it talks which was wrote by Harvard https://hms.harvard.edu/news-events/publications-archive/brain/dancing-brain which talks about how beneficial it could be to our health and just be overall way to release stress or help us start off the day better and wake up our bodies.
I deeply appreciate you taking the time to read this message and listen to our concerns. From not just as a school but from a community. We again respectfully ask that dance classes could be reconsidered and reinstated for the upcoming school year from 2026-2027 as they didn't just provide activity but also a unique outlet for self expression, creativity, and emotional growth. Due to over so many people expressing interest and enthusiasm which demonstrates how important it is to our program and as Martha Graham once said, ¨Dance is the hidden language of the soul¨, reminding us that artistic expression like dance is a vital part of personal and academic development
Dearly
Your Schindewolf students.
