The Issue

For over 40 years, Boswell’s was the "living room" of Campbell. It was a local landmark where generations of families and friends gathered. With the news that the Cedar Room and Pruneyard Cinemas are closing on January 25, 2026, the very space where Boswell's stood for decades is about to become vacant. We have a rare opportunity to bring a neighborhood legend back home.

For many of us, Boswell’s wasn't just a bar—it was the backdrop of our lives. My wife and I met at Boswell’s, and the connection we built there was so strong that we eventually got married right inside the bar. Our story is just one of thousands; Boswell’s was the place where Campbell residents fell in love, celebrated milestones, and built a community that still exists today. We want future generations to have a place to create those same life-long memories.

The closure of Boswell’s has left a noticeable void in The Pruneyard and in our lives. The buzzing atmosphere, live music, and friendly gatherings that defined the Boswell’s experience have been sorely missed. As the community continues to grow, the need for such an inclusive and welcoming space becomes even more critical. It is time to take action and advocate for the revival of Boswell’s, thereby reclaiming our community space.

Since Boswell’s left, the Pruneyard has lacked a true "third place"—an approachable, reliable gathering spot for locals. While the center has grown, it has lost a piece of its soul. The current vacancy at the cinema/bar footprint leaves a hole in our community that another generic chain cannot fill.

We are calling on Regency Centers and Ellis Partners to prioritize the return of Boswell’s to its historic location.

Why Boswell’s is the right choice for the Pruneyard:

Built-in Success: Boswell’s operated successfully in this exact spot for 40+ years—it is a proven business model.

Immediate Foot Traffic: Unlike a new brand that needs marketing, Boswell’s has thousands of loyal fans ready to return on Day 1.

Community Support: We, the undersigned, are not just names on a list; we are your local customers, neighbors, and residents who want to spend our time and money at a revived Boswell’s.

Sign this petition today to tell Regency Centers: We don’t want another chain. We want our neighborhood bar back. Let's bring Boswell’s home!
