It’s been five years since Disney decided to shutter Blue Sky Studios, and every day since then, I've felt its absence in the animation industry. For me, and countless others, Blue Sky wasn’t just another studio; it was a part of our childhood. We cherished their unique storytelling and vibrant characters. From the delightful adventures of "Ice Age" to the whimsical journey in "Ferdinand," Blue Sky provided cinematic experiences that struck a chord in our hearts. The landscape of animated movies has changed significantly, but I long for diversity beyond just Pixar, DreamWorks, or Illumination. While Pixar creates beautiful films, the recurrence of their melancholic themes is not for everyone. Not every story resonates, and sometimes, it just misses the mark. There's room for various narratives and styles, and Blue Sky filled that gap. It's frustrating to see a favorite studio shut down, especially in a market that would benefit from more creative voices. Disney's acquisition of Blue Sky only to close it down seems not just unfair, but a disservice to animation lovers everywhere. They bought a beloved studio and then snuffed out its creative potential. Blue Sky released only thirteen films, and countless stories remain untold. I urge Disney to reconsider and revive Blue Sky Studios. The company has the resources and influence to bring this beloved studio back to life. By doing so, Disney would not only honor the legacy that Blue Sky left behind but also offer audiences an even richer tapestry of stories and characters. Let’s bring back the voice and creativity that Blue Sky Studios provided. Their films connected generations and offered something truly unique. Let's not allow these cherished memories to fade away.
