The Issue

For 30 years, waking up and tuning into 570 NewsRadio has been a daily ritual for my family and friends. We've relied on its coverage of the Rangers, Blue Jays, and Leafs games—not to mention the invaluable news, weather updates, and talk shows tailored specifically to our region. This station has been more than just background noise; it’s been a vital part of our lives in Kitchener Waterloo and the surrounding areas.

Recently, how can Roger's Sports and Media, with its significant influence, justify the removal of 570 NewsRadio—a station that so many in our community depend on daily? It's disheartening to witness the media giant speaking proudly about acquiring media across the country while simultaneously neglecting the very communities that rely on such crucial outlets.

The impact of losing 570 NewsRadio is far-reaching. Local businesses who depended on advertising through this platform suddenly find themselves at a loss. Listeners like us, who start and end our days with this station, now face a void that no other outlet can fill.

While Roger's owns major teams like the Blue Jays and Leafs, it's ironic and heart-wrenching that they’ve stripped us of a channel that supported these very teams and provided us with insightful sports commentary. No to mention the Kitchener Rangers which is a local favorite.  It wasn't just about entertainment; it was a reliable source of information that helped shape our day since we all know how unpredictable Canadian weather can be.

Let's urge Roger's Sports and Media to reconsider their decision. Reinstating 570 NewsRadio not only returns a beloved station to the airwaves but also restores a connection to our community, ensuring that critical information and beloved sports coverage continue to reach tens of thousands of dedicated listeners.

Join me in making a stand to bring back 570 NewsRadio. Sign this petition and let your voice be heard. Together, we can emphasize the importance of local media to those who hold the power to restore it.
