Aldi is opening and planning stores in North Queensland, we don't want our town to get left out. Proserpine is the service hub for the Whitsunday Region and has the regions only railway station, airport, hospital and many of its educational facilities. It is also located on the National Highway 1. Aldi would be a perfect fit here to compete with IGA and Drakes. They are big companies in themselves and don't offer great prices on many products. Proserpine has a population that would benefit significantly from savings at the checkout. It would help the town too by ensuring residents have more disposable income leftover to support cafés and other small businesses and the smaller businesses would be able to benefit from savings at Aldi too on things like milk and other supplies. 

I ask that Aldi plan a store for Proserpine and do everything in its power to find an adequate site in the town, even approaching owners of land that might be off market to secure a site. 

The time to act is now, with Aldi opening its first store 3 hours north at Thuringowa and planning a store at Cannonvale we want to ensure Proserpine doesn't get left behind. Cannonvale will be too far to access easily and is not equidistant to a lot of localities. It just won't suit people other than people in Cannonvale.
