Bring Air India Flights to Kochi: Better connectivity for AUS' Growing Kerala Community

Bring Air India Flights to Kochi: Better connectivity for AUS' Growing Kerala Community
The issue
We, the undersigned members of the Kerala and Indian communities in Australia, respectfully request Air India to consider introducing improved air connectivity between Australia and Kochi, Kerala.
Australia is home to a rapidly growing Kerala community, with thousands of families, students, professionals, and business owners travelling regularly between Australia and Kerala. Despite this strong demand, there is currently no direct Air India connection between Australia and Kochi, forcing passengers to undertake additional domestic flights within India or travel through other international hubs.
We request Air India to evaluate:
• A Melbourne – Kochi – Delhi service
• A Sydney – Kochi – Delhi service
• Direct Australia–Kochi connectivity
• Additional one-stop connections through Kochi for passengers travelling between Australia and India
Benefits of this proposal include:
✓ Reduced travel time and improved passenger convenience
✓ Better accessibility for elderly travellers and families with children
✓ Increased tourism opportunities between Australia and Kerala
✓ Stronger educational, business, and cultural connections
✓ Enhanced connectivity for one of Australia's largest Indian communities
✓ Greater support for Air India's growth in the Australia–India market
Kerala, known as "God's Own Country", is one of India's most popular tourism destinations and has a strong global diaspora. Improved connectivity would benefit not only Keralites living in Australia but also Australian travellers wishing to visit Kerala and India.
We respectfully request Air India and the relevant government authorities to undertake a feasibility assessment and engage with community stakeholders regarding this proposal.
Together, we can strengthen the connection between Australia and Kerala.
Thank you for your support.
