Bring a full-size Toys R Us back to Central NJ
The Issue
As a millennial Mom this petition means a lot to me! Growing up, some of my fondest memories were made in the vibrant aisles of Toys R Us. The thrill of stepping into a store filled with colourful displays, the excitement of picking out a new toy, and the fulfillment of seeing endless possibilities for imagination—all these moments made Toys R Us a special place for countless children, including myself. While online shopping offers convenience, it lacks the magic and adventure of physically exploring a toy wonderland. This is why it's crucial to bring back Toys R Us stores to communities across the country, especially to central New Jersey.
The decline of physical toy stores has left a void in local communities, especially for young families who crave experiences that are more than just digital transactions. In-store shopping provides opportunities for bonding, tactile engagement, and even valuable life lessons for children—like budgeting and making decisions. Furthermore, the reestablishment of Toys R Us stores can foster local economies, creating jobs in retail, customer service, and logistics.
In 2019, 75% of parents surveyed by Statista reported preferring to buy toys in physical stores rather than online. The tactile experience of selecting toys, the immediate fulfillment of taking purchases home, and the social interaction with other families are irreplaceable advantages of an in-store experience. Moreover, considering safety and quality assurances, parents can immediately examine toys in person, ensuring they meet their family's standards.
We need to show the stakeholders—big and small—that there's a real and strong desire for an immersive, tangible shopping experience for toys in the central NJ area. It’s time to act, to spread the joy of toy shopping among new generations, and to bring back a beloved part of our childhood that provides both economic benefits and community enrichment.
