Heritage Halls Parking that is available for Undergraduate students is horrendous. The B lots by the Heritage Halls buildings are always taken and many people misuse them as long term storage. This is also the case for the B lot by the student health center, where parking is impossible to find and people store their vehicles for weeks on end without moving them. From personal experience, I have to use my car many times a WEEK. It has become increasingly stressful and irritating that I have to park so far away when I use my car on a frequent basis off of necessity. Forcing students to park so far away behind the stadium when there is an accessible Y lot that remains empty right next to Heritage is demeaning and selfish. Students and their needs are extremely overlooked especially when it has to do with parking. BYU and their trash parking has been an issue for YEARS. I personally have heard so many students and alumni that have complained and complained about the limited spaces that are available. Opening a section of Lot 20Y would allow students and residents like I who require close and accessible parking on a constant basis. Lot 20Y has remained extremely bare for this entire scholastic year and rarely has more than 20 cars parked there at any time. If opening a section of Lot 20Y is too taxing for BYU, simply ALLOWING Heritage Halls students to purchase a Y lot pass would relieve stress and complications from myself and many of my fellow students.
