Conduct Full Orientation Course For Lagos B14 Stream II Prospective Corps Members

The Issue

On behalf of all the signatories of this document, I would like to express our grievance on the heart-felt misfortune which has been imposed upon us by the administration of the NYSC.

Sir, we would like you to conduct the full orientation course for prospective batch B stream II Lagos corps members.

The 21-day orientation program is a once-in-a-lifetime experience (and opportunity) which we will cherish - every single day - for the rest of our lives. This is the time we will have the opportunity to properly meet with, and mingle with people from other tribes in the country (which is one of the many purposes of the NYSC program). A significant number of success stories in this country are based off relationships built from the NYSC orientation camp. People get to discover other people with similar interests; people they are most likely to work with to solve a particular problem later in life. When I remember the movie "The Butterfly Effect", my heart sinks deeper because of the sad knowledge that our futures will be altered forever.

Sir, It would be understandable if the orientation program for the short-listed northern states is abridged due to the situation in those states, but not the LAGOS program because there is no major security concern in Lagos state at the moment which we are aware of. If there was any, then the Stream 1 program (which is currently still on) wouldn't have been conducted at all in the first place.

This is not a directive, sir, this is a plea.

Sincerely,

Lagos State Prospective Corps Members (Batch B, Stream II)
