Introduction:
Miami's Brickell Southside Park faces numerous issues that have left it forsaken and in disrepair. This article highlights the troubling decision to establish a "temporary" fire station within the park grounds and the neglect of other vacant lots nearby, as well as the lack of maintenance, safety hazards, and the absence of a protective enclosure for a historic building.

Questionable Use of Park Grounds:
The decision to allow JDS developers to set up "temporary" Miami Fire Station 4 bunkers within Brickell Southside Park raises concern. Why was this prime park space chosen instead of utilizing one of the available empty lots within the nearby 4-block radius? The community deserves a transparent explanation for this decision.

Neglect of Park Maintenance:
Miami Parks Director Chris Evans must be held accountable for the current state of the park. The children's playground and basketball court, once cherished amenities, are now deteriorating due to lack of upkeep. The presence of construction debris, flea infestation, rotten leaves, tree branches, mud, and trash highlights the negligence in maintaining the park's cleanliness and beauty.

Unsafe Construction Site:
The construction site within Brickell Southside Park poses a significant threat to public safety. The unstable fences covered with flimsy plastic mesh, coupled with the presence of construction machinery and materials, create hazardous conditions for park visitors. The community deserves immediate action to address this safety concern.

Failure to Protect Historic Building:
Despite orders from the historic preservation committee to protect the existing building adjacent to the children's playground, no protective enclosure has been installed. This oversight puts the historic structure at risk of damage or deterioration, undermining efforts to preserve Miami's heritage.

Lack of Accountability:
Miami government officials responsible for the protection and upkeep of Brickell Southside Park need to be held accountable for their inaction. The neglect and lack of response to community concerns are undermining the trust of citizens in their local governance.

Conclusion:
Brickell Southside Park's current state is deeply concerning and calls for immediate action from the Miami government. The community demands transparency regarding the decision to use the park grounds for the "temporary" fire station and the neglect of nearby vacant lots.

Additionally, urgent measures must be taken to address the poor maintenance, unsafe construction site, and lack of protection for the historic building. It is time for Miami officials to step up and prioritize the well-being of this sacred green space that is an essential part of the community.
