Save Watton's Multi Use Astro Pitch

Save Watton's Multi Use Astro Pitch

Watton (Breckland, Norfolk) are very lucky to have the only publicly available, multi use, astro surface in the community. This key asset to our area is in a worrying state of disrepair.
The pitch is used by Watton Hockey Club, Wayland Academy School, North Elmham Men/Ladies FC, Watton JR FC, Watton Vikings Walking Football & Various 5 aside teams, amounting to over 200+ users of the facility every single week.
After 20+ years of wear & tear, the pitch now needs to be resurfaced in order for the the clubs to continue to play their sports safely. However, Sports England currently do not provide grants suitable for the project and funding from Breckland Council and other organisations has been hard to come by.
We are asking Breckland Council to save the pitch at Watton as a matter of urgency to continue to allow teams & communities to thrive in the area. The pitch has only 1 or 2 years of life left.
Watton as a town has grown dramtically over the past 10 years, with new housing being built every single day. However there has been very little invested in improving leisure factilites in the area.
If the pitch was condemned, it would mean the end of several clubs who depend on it, as well as seeing one of Breckland & Watton's biggest commuinty assets wasted and people forced to travel to Norwich and Kings Lynn.
