Although the BREC Tournament Structure is good, and has a long and successful track record, this petition lists a few changes that we (the local amateur golfers who participate in these events) would like to see. In no particular order…

1) Scorecard Playoff - No tournament championship will be decided by a scorecard playoff. Weather and Daylight permitting, 1st place will be determined by an actual playoff.  Furthermore, for gift card and POY points purposes, scorecards playoffs will not be used either. Example: if 2 people (or teams) tie for 3rd, the 3rd and 4th place points & winnings will be combined and split evenly (just like on the PGA Tour). 

2)  We would like a 1 or 2 day (preferably 2, but we are fine with 1) team event hosted at Santa Maria. A 3 Man Shamble would be a tremendous amount of fun and yield massive participation. Santa Maria is the flagship course for BREC, it would be a great venue to host a team event. 

3)  We would like for the championship events entry fee (for INDIVIDUAL EVENTS ONLY) to include a practice round to be used the week of and only the week of the tournament. This would be practice rounds only for The Clark Park Championship, City Park Championship, Webb Championship, BR Open and BR Amateur. The course could still charge a cart fee if the entrant doesn’t want to walk.  We feel it’s of very low impact on these courses but could yield revenue from range token purchases, merchandise purchases, cart fee purchases, and concession purchases. It’s a simple perk for signing up and use to be a part of the entry fee several years ago. Please bring it back.
