It is to bring to your attention the practices that have been prevalent in the Ramjas Political Review, ISSN (O): 3048-5886. Mr Prem Ansh Sinha, the Editor-in-Chief of Ramjas Political Review, who, currently has probably the most number of authorised academic publications in the student batch of the Department of Political Science, Ramjas, is deemed unworthy of presiding over such an academic position for the past two years. The reasons are as follows:
i) His autocratic form of working, pursuit of excellence, and focus on merit have led to the journal becoming the only political science journal in the entire University of Delhi to have an International Standard Serial Number, but some of us don't know what that is and think that an organisation based out of Paris is running it, thus we are against the journal having an ISSN. It goes against the inclusive spirit of the journal.
ii) Under his tenure, the journal has done far better than our department's council, which had been unable to fill in even the first three rows during our Annual Fest. He, along with his colleagues have gone to engage with three former Foreign Secretaries of India, former National Security Advisor, politicians, economists, and authors across the country. He has brought laurels to the department, even when we, some certain students who are against him were unable to do anything except barking over WhatsApp Groups, showing how intellectually challenged we are.
iii) He has made the RPR the most active place in the college, which favours only merit, and merit alone. This leads to certain of our friends being removed from the organisation, when they are being unable to perform. This goes against our idea that once you become a part of something, your quality cannot be questioned.
iv) He hasn't been caught asking for bribes on record like Mr Hanshul Mohan, our former Vice-President of the Department, which makes him ineligible to be leading such positions. Taking bribes forms an important aspect of leading any organisation, according to our inclusive principles and ideals.
v) Mr Prem Ansh Sinha and his team were there to prepare and finalise the NAAC PPT for the Department of Political Science, hours before it was supposed to be presented because the members assigned to the student council could not complete it well on time. This goes against the ideals of us, the certain students who do not wish the department to be doing well.
vi) We want Ramjas Political Review, an English research journal to be in Hindi. Although we write our exams in English and will never be able to write or contribute a single piece in Hindi, and are aware that pursuits of academia don't exist in local languages, as such we still want Mr Sinha to go away, go away, in our words, because he is very arrogant.
vii) We don't know the difference between a magazine and a journal but Mr Sinha is arrogant and rude to us, so we should make RPR a magazine.
viii) Under him, RPR has been receiving articles across the globe, and laurels from academics. We, certain WhatsApp noise makers dislike this appreciation that the Department of Political Science has been receiving.
Professor, I hope you understand our words. He is elitist beyond our imagination and reeeeeeee we want him to be removed. We are bound by our parochial thoughts. We think that having Mr Sinha as the Editor-in-Chief would end up making the department better, as it has been happening so far. Although we are aware that has not been elected by us, and there is a difference between a council and a research organisation, we do not care about nuances and rules, we just just just want Mr Sinha to be out, because he makes us feel inferior. We do not require appreciation from academia, we do not struggle for academic rigour and freedom, and we do not care about the department. What we care about is the arrogance with which he works and produces quality work, no matter how much we are against him. I hope you take some action and scold him.
