Boycott Florence Welch's new album and donate to Palestinian aid instead

The Issue

Update: Florence has stated that a portion of her ticket sales will be donated to relief for refugees and displaced people from Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan. Only you can decide if this is enough for you to engage with her art again. For me, it means something to know that she is not unmoved.

For the past two years, Israel has been committing a genocide in Gaza. While we welcome the news of a ceasefire, almost 100 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the first phase of the deal between Israel and Hamas was implemented. The UK supplies 15% of the fighter jets that Israel has been using to reduce Gaza to rubble.

In a world where the crime of all crimes has been normalized, silence is no longer acceptable for anyone, and that includes all artists. Florence has an audience of millions, and an obligation to use her massive platform for good. As longtime fans who deeply appreciate the contribution her art has made to our lives, we feel tremendous grief that she has been silent so far on this atrocity. We are not taking this action out of hatred or vitriol, but out of deep love and a stubborn belief that she shares our commitment to seeing all human life as sacred.

We therefore pledge to boycott "Everybody Scream" and donate the money that we would have spent on the album to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. We do this with the aim of pressuring Florence to make a statement supporting a full arms embargo and calling for the immediate resumption of the maximum amount of aid to Gaza.
