Colleges in Massachusetts are starting to kick kids of campus because they fear an outbreak. Meanwhile students have already paid for expensive housing, let alone tuition for in-person classes. Making classes remote is one thing, but kicking someone out of the place they planned on living for the next few months is impractical and shows a complete disregard for students who live far away or don’t have housing options elsewhere. 
A landlord would not be able to do this, and BU is your landlord if you live on campus. We paid upfront for housing til May. The assumption that every student can pack up their life and go somewhere else is ridiculous. We don’t all have the luxury of moving somewhere last minute. 
This is all beside the fact that I have heard nothing about refunds. We paid for a full education, in person where we are able to collaborate with peers and professors. We paid for shelter and food, and many of us had to make sacrifices to do so. But we did it, because we care about our education. Does BU care about the same thing? If they kick us out just so they don’t have to deal with the potential of an outbreak I’m not convinced they do. If people want to leave that is their decision, just as it should be my decision to continue living in a space I already paid for. 
If you think it is an individuals right to choose whether they want to throw away 90 grand please sign this petition and let the BU administration know that we care.
