Modernize The Streets of East Boston

Modernize The Streets of East Boston
THE PROBLEM
All residents of East Boston regardless of residence situation are of the same understanding that the parking situation is becoming a problem that affects everyones lives. Many residents, (especially those who work late hours) are forced to park in areas where they could be threatened to be ticketed or towed due to the lack of parking. This is partly due to the erection of multiple condominiums in the area without adequate parking to support them, causing vehicles to park in the street taking up more parking.
MISSION
The mission of this petition is for the Boston Transportation Department to utilize it’s taxpayer funded resources to conduct research on, and implement methods to better the parking situation in East Boston. This includes but is not limited to:
- The possibility of painted parking lines on streets where they would ensure more parking spots.
- The possibility of allowing residents to utilize city lots such as school lots overnight without fear or repercussion.
- The possibility of the development of public parking lots for residents.
- The possibility of angled parking spots on wider streets to expand parking
- Reevaluating the penalties for being improperly parked on street sweeping days. Many residents find that being ticketed AND towed as a punishment does not fit the crime of blocking 15 feet of asphalt.
END STATE
The goal of this petition is not to have any of the above implemented directly, but rather, have the Boston Transportation Department conduct studies on the most effective means of parking with minimal negative impact on residents and implement those methods in a hasty fashion
Thank you all for taking the time to read this, i hope to get your signature on this petition and push for positive change in East Boston
