Report Unethical practices at Bosley Hair Restoration Clinics
The Issue
This concerns the hair restoration and transplant procedure performed at Bosley Hair Restoration Clinic:
Starting at the initial consultation, Was told there would be no downtime - and could go to work the very next day. "you can fly out to a business trip that very night" per Dr. Timothy Ehrlich
Was never told that the head would be grotesquely shaved and sutures exposed thus preventing business meetings for a few weeks. Their MO is to get the patient on the chair on surgical day and then all disclaimers for signing and last-minute horrendous details come out! such as shaving most of the head, sutures left wide open and grotesquely visible for weeks, wounds left to bleed ...
The staff was extremely discourteous and hostile - using abusive and racial terms as "Osama" and "a**hole" (possibly mistaking me for a Muslim) and despite my repeatedly mentioning my Asian background, continued the mistreatment
No post-op pain medication was provided - reminiscent of old nazi era tactics where pain was deemed to be more tolerable by the non-white races.
When my Blood pressure went extremely low and the staff was unable to deal with it - no clue on what to do and they just stood there and did nothing. the doctor refused to address it and I felt extremely dizzy with a bp of 95/48-- yet they drove me out of the clinic so everybody could go home!
I protested the mistreatment by the nurses as they would rudely command directives to not move in the most combative and hostile manner. In response, the nurses called me a jerk for demanding my patient rights.
As soon as the procedure was done I was carelessly bandaged and rushed out the door by the staff, and since I could not see the back of my head did not noticd the heavy bleeding that was occurring
15 minutes after leaving the clinic I noticed blood dripping at the back of my neck - blood was running down my neck in streams and I was on an expressway on the way to home
I called the clinic hotline number but no one picked up, Doctor ehrlich did not giv4e me his cell phone as promised in the initial consultations if complications occurred. Upon reaching home the blood hemorrhage intensified and I was bleeding profusely. My family assisted in applying pressure and keeping the head cool with ice.
Went to Hospital emergency room and checked in that night. Doctors were shaking their heads on the cruelest state of botched up job done by bosley. They worked on me for over an hour to stop the bleeding
Next day when we went for follow, the doctor refused to admit the seriousness of the situation and told us this is normal. He wanted me to go back home immediately and disregarded the pictures from ER I showed him
Against requests, the staff then ripped out the bandage ignoring my warnings and the bleeding resumed immediately, with blood dripping down in rivulets as the doctor continued to bully us into leaving WHILE the bleeding was continuing - [Audio recording available upon request]
However the staff insisted I go home and just apply pressure despite the clearly visible bleeding. Not only was the staff unwilling to deal with the bleeding the aggressive pressuring to leave the clinic (off the premises in case I had a serious situation!) in a condition as shown in the picture was absolutely unacceptable.
Dr Ehrlich called this s "cluster f*ck" and his staff joked and callously laughed about everything while I was being bullied by the office manager into leaving the clinic
Once the bleeding became clearly unstoppable the office manager arranged for the staff to examine the sutures.
While the sutures were fine, the hair extraction sites were still bleeding continuously. The staff had absolutely no clue on how to address the situation
I directed the staff to do exactly what the ER physician did previously tyo stop the bleeding -- inject lidocaine and epinephrine into the wounds so the bleeding would stop
Once the staff performed the procedure requested, the bleeding stopped and I was sent home
The subsequent days were extremely painful and uncomfortable. False claims on the post-operative comfort level were blatant lies and misrepresentations
On a follow up Dr Ehrlich quickly told me the hair wasnt washed currently (no instructions were provided) and since i had dried blood from previous bleedings that oozed from their horrible procedure, ran out of the room to answer any questions
For a 20k procedure, no follow up evaluations or checkups have ever been conducted
