There couldn't be a better time to scrap HS2 and spend the £100 + billion on the NHS.

The country is in a crisis with coronavirus now reaching a peak. We have all done our bit by self isolating and social distancing but now the government has given HS2 the go ahead to get back to work. I didn't realise that an orange suit, fluorescent jacket and hard hat protected you against the virus. Perhaps the government will now supply these to our heroes at the NHS when they finally get around to delivering their PPE.

We need new rail infrastructure in the north but HS2 from London to Birmingham has been shown by the experts to be a waste of money and above all extremely damaging to our environment especially as we are now in a climate emergency.The HS2 review failed to provide an independent, impartial and rigorous appraisal of relevant environmental and climate change factors.

The sites and properties HS2 bought should be sold or better still build affordable homes.

Our brave NHS and care home workers are treating coronavirus victims every day many without  protective clothing. Some have made the ultimate sacrifice and sadly died trying to save our lives.
