Commend The Young Black Men Who Saved Police Officer During Machete Attack in Leyton.

The Issue

We the undersigned believe that the young black men. who recently assisted the badly injured, Metropolitan Police officer, PC Outten, subject of a vicious machete attack in Leyton, East London on Thursday 8th August 2019, should be publically recognised for their bravery.

We note the silence of the Metropolitan Police Service, the Prime Minister, Home Secretary, and mainstream media who have failed to publicly thank, recognise and report on the outstanding bravery of these young men.

We, therefore, call upon the Prime Minister, Home Secretary, Metropolitan Police Commissioner, Cressida Dick, and the Mayor of London to formally recognise and reward, by way of public commendation, the courageous and public-spirited actions of these young men.

Dear Petitioner, Thank you for the petition submitted on the Change.org website about recognition for the young black men who came to Police Constable (PC) Outten’s assistance. The attack on PC Outten was absolutely awful and the Mayor is grateful to the brave individuals who came to his aid. Violence against London’s police officers is never acceptable. Whilst the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) would never want members of the public to put themselves at risk, they are always grateful for the brave and selfless actions of the public in circumstances such as this. The police have established procedures for recognising acts of gallantry from the public and the Mayor understands that this will apply in this instance. Thank you for raising the profile of these brave individuals. Yours sincerely Public Liaison Unit Greater London Authority
