Leave Prince Philip a lasting legacy: make D of E award & environment studies compulsory
Why this petition matters

Please make environmental, nature and team-building studies along the lines of the Duke of Edinburgh awards a mandatory part of the UK’s national curriculum. Inspiring the next generation to be greener, healthier and create a better society.
During lockdown, most of us have noticed the benefits of a closer relationship to nature and the community to both our mental and physical health. This along with the fact that the balance of the natural world is the most important inheritance we can leave our children.
As such let's take this opportunity to make: the natural world, saving it and making it part of a healthy and active lifestyle a mandatory part of the national curriculum!
Ahead of COP26 let us be the first country to make nature a priority in our curriculum and change our child's attitudes. In the same way, attitudes to race and sexuality have all changed in this great country over the last 20 years through our country's teachers, lets change the way we treat the environment, the way our kids view it, use it and respect it. Change the way we teach it and have active classes outdoors every week come rain or shine in natural environments and commit to doing good in the community. If you want to change the future, have a green economy and a country to be proud of, here is where it starts.
So for a better tomorrow starting today make Prince Philip’s and David Attenborough’s lifetimes work part of the national curriculum! Leaving them a national lasting legacy by teaching our children not everything can be learned in a classroom. Please sign the petition.
