Let's UK graduates register with HCPC after University like overseas graduates.

The Issue

In The United Kingdom, 95% of student that get rejected from medical school study biomedical sciences because it the closest discipline to medecine as it lack the therapeutic side reserved to doctors. On the UK, graduates from a Bachelor's in Science in Biomedical Science does not permit registration. Graduate have to find a hospital where the will complete a registration portfolio that can take up to two years whiles other allied health professionals like Physiotherapist, nurses or dietitians finishe their courses with their registration. How do you explain a discipline as difficult like biomedical science which is at the heart of healthcare yet we struggle to work as biomedical scientist, 75% of us end up returning to University to do a second degree in a different disciplines due to lack of places. Only about 2% of graduate find jobs as trainee biomedical scientists, regardless of if you have work experience module throughout your study on top of practical classes. Could you either reorganise this course so that participants university/Colleges do not only IBMS's accredit our degrees but also HCPC's register us. Can you imagine our struggle, after been debited entrance to medical school, we can be the scientist we deserve to be while, African, Asian and European graduates come to the UK and start work as Biomedical Scientists. If our degree has no values, why is it been taught? Why should we have a degree and about 40k debt but we can not even start working as trainee biomedical Scientist as there are less than a 100 vacancies nationwide yearly, while we have at least 200 graduates per Teaching University per year. Please sign this petition to allow the government review Biomedical Science graduate HCPC's registration case.
