Good morning - we hope that you are keeping safe and well. In these fearful times, let's hope we can all still pull together.
One thing we know already from the corona virus crisis is that we are going to pay very dearly in the UK for public policy mistakes.
The government's lack of preparedness, shambolic response and dismissive attitude to criticism is all too familiar.
It is the same pattern of behaviour that led to 1.7m people being denied their vote last year. This time the price will be measured in the numbers of people who will need to be hospitalised and the lives that will be lost.
The crisis has also been a reminder of the contribution that EU citizens in the UK make to our public services.
No longer dubbed "low-skilled", the government now talks about the "key workers" holding up our NHS.
The negative way that EU citizens are often seen and treated in Britain has got to stop.
We know from #DeniedMyVote how important it is that EU citizens have a voice, a voice that is heard if things are to change for good.
That's why we are asking you to support Else Kvist's call to the UK government to give EU citizens the vote (see the link below).
We also ask you to support our friends Bremain in Spain in making sure that Britons abroad are given the promised vote for life.
As well as the health and economic impact, the corona crisis will also damage the fabric of our democracy and even our civil rights.
That's why organisations like New Europeans are so important at this time and in the future.
To make sure that our campaigns are as resilient as possible through the current crisis and beyond, we invite you to sign up as a member:
We must continue to fight for justice in the #DeniedMyVote campaign, and for the democratic rights of EU citizens to be protected.
