First of all we hope you are keeping safe and well and that your family, friends and colleagues are safe and well.
This unprecedented crisis is bringing out the best in people and one of those people is Spanish Nurse Joan Pons Laplana.
Joan has volunteered to return to frontline nursing to help the NHS and Else has spoken to him in a two part interview for New Europeans.
On COVID frontline with our NHS nurse, Joan Pons Laplana
The contribution the EU citizens like Joan and many like him are making to this national emergency, whether through the NHS or by providing other essential day-to-day services including as cleaners, shop assistants and drivers is quite extraordinary.
When the crisis is over, we say that EU citizens in the UK must be given the vote in General Elections because they are part of our community.
Enfranchising EU citizens is also the best way to make up for the scandal that occurred in 2019 when 1.7m were denied a vote.
Even though we are in lockdown, New Europeans continues to engage with policy-makers and to build support for our campaigns.
The health emergency is of course the overriding priority for all of us.
But we must not lose sight of the fact that the health of our democracy is also as risk as we saw with #DeniedMyVote.
Stay well, keep safe, and if you would like to stay connected with New Europeans's work, why not consider joining as a member?
We will send your updates about how others are working to ensure our civil and democratic rights are protected in other parts of Europe.
And it's the best way to keep us strong and united as we fight on for the voting rights of #the5million in these dangerous times.
