Petition updateLaunch a public inquiry into the #DeniedMyVote scandalCan we have our democracy back when all this is over?

Last year 1.7m EU citizens and Britons abroad were denied their vote in the European elections. Let's not forget that even now.

This year EU citizens have lost the chance to vote in London elections because the elections were rightly postponed until next year.

But by this time next year will EU citizens still have the vote in local elections? Or will the government have stripped them away?

That matters, because EU citizens - like Joan Pons Laplana, are working round the clock and putting their lives at risk to beat coronavirus.

They and NHS colleagues from the UK and all over the world are at risk, because the government has failed to prepare adequately for this crisis.

Just like the government failed to prepare properly for the elections.

Last year 1.7m people were denied their vote. This year thousands may lose their lives because of the government's failings.

In both cases, the government told everybody everything would be fine. But it wasn't fine then and it isn't fine now, is it?

In both cases, the government said it know best. But it didn't know best then and it doesn't know best now, does it?

In 2019, it cost many their vote. In 2020, it's costing many their lives.

For this to change so that this never happen again, we need to make sure all members of community are able to vote.

That means giving Joan Pons Laplana and all EU citizens he vote.

Joan is a spokesperson for New Europeans and he has just returned to frontline nursing to help the NHS.

When this is all over, Joan wants his say over what happens next in Britain - same as everybody else.

If you agree that is right, why not chip in today to support our campaign for a public inquiry into #DeniedMyVote?

We have more than just coronavirus to beat. We also need to remember to take care of our rights as citizens and the health of our democracy.

Negligence on the scale we have seen costs lives.

Help us to change that for good.
