Craig Wilson started this petition to Boris Johnson (Prime Minister) and

The community A.B.Cs within the liverpool provide a safe haven for those with mental health and well-being, they take children and youngsters away from gangs, off the streets and give them direction and purpose, they provide education and a place for people to grow, by shutting their doors those in their care end up back on the streets, children are the hope for the future, we are supposed to Inspire the next generation to pass the torch but how can these community boxing clubs make a difference in the community with our government make them close their doors.

Boxing clubs within the community reduce crime by giving youngsters direction, purpose and guidance and place them on a better path some will end up representing this country in sport and some will end up inspiring others, these community gyms do so much good and have changed so many lives, don’t prevent them from doing what they have done by telling them to close their doors, These services are as vital as the mental health and well-being services.

COVID is bad and people are losing their lives but how many will lose their lives to suicide or crime, how many of our younger generation without the support of the A.B.Cs and the coaches where do they go? On the streets, back into gangs, end up on drugs or drink, we are supposed to create a better future for the next generation but how can these gyms do the mission they set out to do if they are being told to close.

I say to our prime minister and his constituency, to our mayor Joe Anderson, To our MPs before you make the decisions to keep the community boxing gyms closed come to liverpool and come see the good they do, come spend time at the various amateur boxing clubs who the support the community and see the work these clubs and their coaches do.

the government want to reduce crime, improve employment rates, make this country thrive then closing the amateur boxing clubs isn’t the answer not only do they take youngsters off the streets they also create futures for these young people they put them on a good path in life they help them thrive and they give them purpose a mission, as a coach working closely with an A.B.C I see the good they do and these are all good kids who only need direction and someone to believe in them and they can achieve the best in life these kids can go on to be professional boxers, inspirations, support workers and coaches who pass the torch to the next generation. Don’t limit children give them the tools to exceed expectations.

I ask our government to not only keep the doors open for amateur boxing clubs but to also provide better funding so they can expand their numbers, the more children we get off the streets and into a sport or into an education we can create a stronger community spirit, generate positive change, create jobs and generate a safer community within our cities.

Don’t close the doors of these amateur boxing clubs or those who run mental health groups or create educational networks for people, the NHS mental health services are overwhelmed how many people won’t get the help they need in time and end up losing their life, how many good kids will end up back on the streets because the one thing they have that helps them stay positive is stripped from them, we are so worried about catching a virus and losing our lives but the real killer is failing the people who count on us for direction, purpose, hope and our communities want nothing more to come together to and keep our city standing and thriving.

the world is a better place with the likes of amateur boxing clubs, coaches and this support network in place helping pave the way for a safer future and creating a better next generation.

POSITIVE CHANGE IS KEY, so I humbly ask our government, our MPs, our PM, our Councils take a moment to spend time with these boxing clubs see the work and the good they do and the change they create, provide better funding and support and together we can make a positive difference from now and to the future.
