Remove the decision making capacity about Arthur’s funeral from his biological relatives.

The Issue

Arthur Labinjo-Hughes’ body lies in a mortuary alone whilst the family who failed him so spectacularly argue about where to lay him to rest.

Arthur’s body is in the Leicester Royal Infirmary - where the post-mortem was carried out 16-months ago - due to a legal dispute over who has the right to lay him to rest.

His biological mothers family want to bury him in Birmingham. However his fathers family have a plot for him elsewhere and want to take charge of his funeral arrangements.

The decision about his funeral arrangements should be removed from his biological relatives. An individual, organisation or charity should be assigned by the Government to carry out the arrangements and make a decision about what would be the most appropriate way forward for Arthur.

That poor little boy was failed by everyone that knew him, including family, police, schools and social services. He should not be let down in death as well. His body needs to be laid to rest free from arguments between the relatives that caused him so much pain in life.
