Why this petition matters

Started by A Lloyd

I don’t know anyone who has a pet who isn’t frightened of fireworks. We don’t want to stop people from having fun with their families. But there is no need for fireworks to be going off for 2 weeks around bonfire night. It is not fair on our animals who are petrified and frightened in their own homes for at least two weeks. In the run up to bonfire night, they are being let off every night, when it is not November 5th/or the closest weekend night. Nor  should they be released on Halloween, it’s not traditionally celebrated with fireworks. My dog has been petrified since 27th October as since then there have been fireworks every night.
There is absolutely no need. We don’t want fireworks to be cancelled completely, but it would be nice to just have them on one or two nights of the year, instead of dreading the 2 weeks run up to Bonfire Night because people think it’s appropriate to let them off.
Make it law to just have them on November 5th, with the allowance of also the nearest Saturday/Sunday for group bonfire/firework displays and otherwise only on New Years Eve.
