Boost Budget for Stony Brook University's School Concert

Boost Budget for Stony Brook University's School Concert
The Issue
As a member of Stony Brook's student body, I find myself increasingly concerned with the decline in student sentiment due to cuts in essential activities such as our school concert. Music and art, the cornerstones of culture and identity, should not be trivialized or reduced. Music enriches our learning environment, boosts students' mental health, and adds verve and vibrancy to our college experience. This is why we urgently request our Undergraduate Student Government and University administration to increase the budget for the school concert.
For a significant number of students like myself, the school concert is not just an event; it is a tradition. A tradition that not only adds to our experience but also shapes who we are. A decline in student sentiment can have detrimental effects on not just individual students but also the overall campus mood. Studies have shown that establishing and maintaining positive sentiment can have significant implications for students' physical health, psychological well-being, motivation, and academic performance (The International Journal of Emotional Education, 2016).
We need to preserve the tradition of our school concert and strive to improve it, not let it wither due to inadequate funding. It is a plea from your students, a plea to bolster their faith in the university and their college experience. Encourage Stony Brook University's culture and spirit by reinforcing its musical identity.
We implore you, the Undergraduate Student Government and University administrators, to hear the voices of your students and take the necessary action to increase the budget for our school concert. Sign this petition to support the continuation of a fulfilling, enriching, and mood-boosting tradition at Stony Brook University.
