The Issue

We, the undersigned parents, guardians, and community members, are requesting a formal review of the use of Chromebooks in classroom instruction, with consideration for limiting their daily use and/or allowing families the option to opt out of Chromebook-based learning when appropriate.

While we recognize the importance of technology in modern education, we have ongoing concerns about how Chromebooks are currently impacting student learning, attention, and classroom engagement.

Our concerns include:

 • Increased student distraction and misuse of devices during instructional time

 • Difficulty for teachers to monitor appropriate online activity at all times

 • Reduced focus on handwriting, reading comprehension, and hands-on learning

 • Decline in in-person participation and classroom interaction

 • Behavioral and attention challenges linked to frequent screen use

 • Over-reliance on digital assignments in place of traditional instruction methods

We respectfully request that the district consider the following:

 • Limiting Chromebook use to eLearning days

 • Increasing paper-based and hands-on instructional

 • Strengthening, monitoring and content restrictions during educational instruction

 • Offering transparency to families regarding when and how devices are used in curriculum

We believe students learn best when classroom instruction is led directly by teachers using traditional methods such as textbooks, discussion, and written work. We are requesting a review of current policies due to concerns that Chromebooks are being overused during school hours and are replacing essential teacher-led instruction and paper-based learning

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned Parents and Guardians
