BOC Gas made me redundant after getting terminal cancer – now they won't pay my TPD, Death, Income insurance claim because "high cholesterol" excluded me

The issue

I worked for BOC Gas for five and half years as a production manager. I loved the job and even worked after getting diagnosed with rare Ampullary Adenocarcinoma cancer – but after taking leave to go overseas for cancer surgery I was made redundant, and the nightmare keeps getting worse.

I then found out they had used "high cholesterol" to shaft me to an insurance level that meant when I got cancer I wasn't covered for the disability income, TPD, death cover and income protection that I signed up for. The company I loved working for and trusted for so long is refusing to consider helping me at all.

Lots of my past colleagues say I was a good manager. I got great performance reviews and always worked hard, even on Christmas, Easter, on-call 24/7 majority of the time. But right after I had cancer surgery, they came up with ridiculous allegations that I hadn't followed proper process, demoted me and left me without any income support. And I continued to battle terminal cancer through all of it.

It's like BOC Gas couldn't care less about me. I thought they'd have my back and help me when I got cancer, but instead they sacked me. And what is the point of paying huge premiums and fees to these insurance companies if they deny you support when you need it most?

No one should have to battle to save his family home and secure their family's future while facing the hardest battle fighting terminal cancer. This could happen to anyone and the Insurance companies need to make changes and be fair on their judgments.

Please take the time to read what is happening to me and sign my petition. If you could also share it on your social media sites - the more signatures the more chance of change. Thank you.

I'm asking BOC Gas to please reverse their decision on my case and help me as the income insurance was meant to, and to also look at how they're treating their workers.
