Resign your posts for failing to report a child predator

On May 24, 2016, entertainment lawyer Ben Adams was arrested and charged with molesting a 14-year-old boy in Manhattan Beach, California. Less than a month later, evidence came to light that this was the same Ben Adams who had briefly attended Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina in 2004.
Investigators in both Manhattan Beach and Greenville discovered that Adams had been forced to withdraw from BJU in 2004 after several minors reported he'd sexually assaulted them. However, there is no evidence that these allegations were reported to police as required by law.
At the time, the ultimate responsibility for ensuring that sexual assault incidents of this nature were properly reported to police rested with then-president Bob Jones III and then-dean of students Jim Berg. Based on the evidence at hand, their failure to do so resulted in a child predator remaining free for more than a decade. Jones stepped down as president in 2005 and is now chancellor, while Berg stepped down as dean in 2010 to focus on teaching counseling to seminary graduate students.
This is outrageous as what happened at Penn State. The result should be no different. There was no defensible reason for then-Penn State president Graham Spanier to remain in his post when it emerged he failed to report Jerry Sandusky's crimes to police. Likewise, there is no defensible reason for either Jones or Berg to remain on BJU's payroll. It is time for them to show some real leadership. They must apologize for not reporting the earlier allegations to police--while they resign their posts.
