Therapy dog Diamond was molested & hung from a tree. Please ask for the maximum sentence.
The Issue
A Washington State man sexually abused a boy's therapy dog, and hanged her from a tree.
James Leroy Evans, 33, faces one count of first-degree animal cruelty and may face a bestiality charge after DNA testing. Evans admitted that he put down the dog because she killed his pet iguana.
The pit bull mix, called Diamond, was a therapy dog working as an emotional support animal for an eight-year-old boy. While her owners found permanent housing, Evans offered to take care of her.
On March 21, a mountain biker found Diamond's body hanging from a tree branch in the Summit Lake area of Thurston County. A necropsy showed that the dog suffered aggressive sexual assault before dying of asphyxiation.
The owners of the dog reportedly said that Evans had “real temper issues.” and that he had an “explosive personality.”
Evans has a criminal history of domestic violence, burglary and controlled substance charges. He is reportedly a felon from Grays Harbor County.
His arraignment has been set for 26th April.
The charge Evans faces is that of animal cruelty in the first degree. It is a Class C felony, punishable by up to 5 years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines.
