Remove Br. Leonard Conway from St. Francis Preparatory School and investigate corruption.
The Issue
This is the first step in making administrative changes to bring accountability for the cover-up of criminal child sexual abuse that has been substantiated by alumni, former students, alumni victims like myself, and most recently The New York Post's report on the Special Commissioner of Investigations of the NYC Dept. of Education findings of former teacher Rodney Alejandro, being allowed to leave Saint Francis Preparatory in good standing after it was reported he raped a 15 year old student and forced her to have 2 abortions. Brother Leonard was the principal at that time. He failed in his mandated legal and ethical responsibility to report these allegations to law enforcement. Due to the expiration of the statute of limitations in this case the Queens District Attorney was unable to bring charges against the rapist, or Brother Leonard in this cover-up. Allegations have also been made that Brother Leonard was involved in the cover-up of allegations made against former Principal Bro. Michael Moran for his sexual affair as a Chaplain with an 18 year old boy in counseling sessions at Hofstra University as "treatment" for his sexual orientation insecurity, and his disclosure to that young man that he was guilty of sodomizing a boy at Prep in 1980 when Bro. Michael was taken out of the school in handcuffs after the Prep student reported it to police. I was raped by Brother Michael Moran in 1977 when he was the principal there. An independent investigation supervised by a reputable law and investigation firm needs to be conducted to shed light on any and all involvement of any and all administration present and past with no historical limitation. The findings of this report will be made available to the Trustees, any and all administration and alumni, to determine the need (if necessary) for additional resignations, terminations, policy changes to prevent corruption, cover-ups of any and all classifications of child abuse, development and implementation of a program going forward to ensure safe reporting by students, and mandated reporting to law enforcement by administration.
