Amend Carleton's 2021-22 Investment Policy (Board of Governors)
The Issue
Undergraduate Governor Nathaniel Black is seeking student support through this petition to amend the upcoming proposed investment policy at the Board of Governors on December 1st, 2020.
Nathaniel's amendment would add the line “move to approve the investment policy of non-endowed funds as presented, excluding the use of non-endowed funds toward the purchase of equity funds in the fossil fuel industry.”
The proposed investment policy does not contain any environmental protections or investment limits of over $100 million of students' money going to support the fossil fuel industry's short-term equities.
If passed in its current form, the investment policy would result in Carleton funds being used to support the fossil fuel industry by purchasing equities (stocks).
