Mr. Hunter, a World History teacher at Virgil. I Grissom High School, taught a lesson in the fall of 2021 that has resulted in his removal from the classroom.  During class Mr. Hunter shared a ten minute news cast that included a national story about people forging and selling false Covid-19 Vaccine cards.  While turning the current event into teaching moment, solely intended to educate the students, the content of this lesson was grossly embellished. Huntsville City Schools is now proposing the termination of Mr. Hunter and accusing him of forging Covid-19 vaccine cards.  Mr. Hunter did not intend to break any rules and or laws in his demonstration.  Subsequently, the students have lost an experienced teacher who is just 5 years short of retirement.

      Mr. Hunter also serves as a coach for the Grissom baseball program.  A baseball program that has experienced a high turnover rate over the last 6 years.  Just as the baseball program is settling into an excellent new coaching staff, it is taking another hit by the removal of a well respected and highly experienced coach & male role model.  This leaves the athletes and remaining coaches under staffed as they prepare for the 2022 season.  

     Mr. Hunter has requested a hearing to defend himself against the HCS Board policies he is accused of violating. (Policies 4.4 ;  5.1.1c ;  5.1.1d ; 5.1.1g).  Accusations that could clearly cost Mr. Hunter his career and... at the expense of our children's education. 

     Please support Mr. Hunter and request all accusations be dismissed and his immediate return to the classroom and baseball program.    The extent of his punishment is extreme, exaggerated and simply unfair to Mr. Hunter and the children he takes pride in educating.
