The Hometown Heroes of Plains Township

The Hometown Heroes Banner Program honors veterans (both living and deceased) as well as active duty members of the Armed Forces, and first responders. Taking part in this program would allow families to sponsor banners for their loved ones throughout the town, displayed on utility poles. The banners would include their photo, their name, military rank, or position as a first responder, as well as their sponsor. Neighboring towns who have already participated in this program include Duryea, Avoca, West Pittston, Hughestown, and numerous others. Driving though these towns seeing the public display of appreciation is truly heart warming. I think we could all benefit from more heart warming moments after the year we’ve had. What better way than to honor those who have served our country and our community, our brave loved ones, in their hometown. The town that makes them happy to say they are “Plains Proud”

The goal would be to have everything in place prior to Memorial Day 2021. 

I am hoping to gain support of the commissioners board to approve this project for the township. I will be proposing the idea to the Plains Township Commissioners before the upcoming December meeting. I am setting all the groundwork to make this a very easy task to achieve. 

I am reaching out for community support on this matter. I have spoken to citizens in the township and there appears to be substantial interest!
