The COVID-19 Pandemic is the worst pandemic in 102 years. It is now required as of July 1st to wear a face mask in public in Jackson County. Why should it be any different at BSSD?

For the health and safety of all the staff and students in the Blue Springs School District, we the students want Face Masks to be Mandatory during class. Wearing masks ARE required in the halls of the schools, but that it not enough to be safe. Even if Jackson County's Mandatory Mask order becomes outdated, we students still want safety to be the number 1 priority this semester.

"Face masks will be required on the bus and transition periods throughout the day in our schools. Masks will be recommended in the classroom when social distancing is not possible." - Bob Jerome, Superintendent of Operations

The classrooms are where we spend most of our time during school, and we want it to be as safe as possible for us and staff.

Of course, classes such as Band or even Choir will have to be an exception to this rule, because these classes require you to use your mouth in a way where a mask would interfere and lower our performance.
