Blue Ridge Communications - Remove the Data Cap!

Blue Ridge Communications - Remove the Data Cap!
The Issue
Around September of 2015, Blue Ridge Communications changed their policies regarding the internet usage for the services they provide to Monroe and surrounding counties. According to Pocono Record and Stop the Cap!, Blue Ridge provides services to over 170,000 homes in the area. They doubled their data cap but removed the free period that was given for off peak times. Not only are lower tiers restricted in regards to cap but the cap itself can go no higher than 700gb per month for the highest speed available which is their Dream 100 (100mbps.)
On a personal level, my family exceeds the cap monthly, and to be honest, we shouldn't need to pay extra on top of what we already pay for in regards to internet service. My only option is to pay for commercial internet, which is ultimately unnecessary. There are many little things that contribute to overall data usage in a home. Obvious things such as Netflix and YouTube as well as non-obvious things such as computer and console updates.
I, as a student, rely heavily on YouTube for lectures as well as uploading videos for my Professors. I'll admit, I don't want to pay for other cable services to help with my internet usage, I am perfectly content streaming for my entertainment. I am not content, however, with having to pay almost four hundred dollars a month for services I need.
This outrageous cap needs to stop, or Blue Ridge needs to raise it tremendously. There is absolutely no reason for a company who has this entire area bought out to cap their internet for the users that remain loyal, whether it be their own choice or not.
This petition is here to reach out to them, to hopefully show them the impact that it has on their customers, and to see if they truly care about us as much as they say they do.
