BLUE-PERCROSS for Autism 4/13/13

The Issue

I can still remember, 17 years ago, then a 12 year old, rolling out on to the track at the Metrodome...wearing gloves just like my idol, Jeremy McGrath, and later than evening watching the best Supercross riders in the world. I know first hand the impact the stars of Supercross have on children as role models. What better place for a child in the crowd to learn about the growing epidimic that is autism, and how to be a better, more understanding friend to those affected by autism? If one child, or even one parent, leaves the Metrodome on April 13th, 2013 with a better awareness and understanding of autism, the event will be a success. For the past two years, I have tried my hardest to get each rider to wear blue to show support. You see, as a former professional mx'er, not only is my love of the sport strong, but my relationship to autism is even stronger...two years ago, at the age of 2, my oldest son Elijah was diagnosed with autism. If this is a worthy enough cause for supercross stars Trey Canard, Chad Reed, Cody Gilmore and Gavin Faith to support (not to mention FELD's Nuclear Cowboyz), why not the entire pit area? My dream is for every rider in each main to have a small amount of blue and fans in the stands to participate as well...whether it is blue goggles, blue stickers, or blue as a smurf head to toe. This support WILL make a difference. With your help, FELD Entertainment WILL take notice and this dream will come true and a better tomorrow for this with autism will follow!
