Blue Line Extension (BLX) to Allston & Beyond!

Blue Line Extension (BLX) to Allston & Beyond!
The Issue
The Boston Metro area is home to over 4.8 million people, many of whom rely on public transportation for their daily commute. Currently, the Blue Line ends at the turnaround Bowdoin station terminus in Downtown Boston. The Blue Line Extension (BLX) would include extending the line to Red Line Charles/MGH station (Red/Blue Connector), continuing along Storrow Drive and Charles River Esplanade in the Back Bay and Allston neighborhoods, and incorporating a future connection to West Station commuter stop which is part of the planned I-90 Allston Multimodal project. With limited connections to other lines, this leaves a significant portion of Greater Boston underserved and makes it difficult to quickly access the airport. This petition calls for an extension of the Blue Line beyond its current terminus to better connect and serve these communities.
Extending this line would not only provide much-needed access for residents in these areas but also help reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions by encouraging more people to use public transportation instead of personal vehicles. According to a study by Boston University, traffic congestion in Boston is among the worst in America with commuters spending an average of 60 hours stuck in traffic annually.
By signing this petition, you are supporting a more connected, sustainable Boston where everyone has equal access to reliable public transportation. Help us make our city more accessible and environmentally friendly by extending the Blue Line (BLX) to Allston and beyond!
