Insurance companies should be required to reduce premiums to employers and employees during the COVID-19 pandemic like auto insurance companies did. Elective cases were all put on hold for weeks during this time as well as routine doctor visits etc. yet insurance companies continued to require the same amount of premiums even though claims were reduced significantly. A reduction in premiums could’ve helped small businesses continue to pay employees insurance and could’ve helped so many furloughed from work still afford to keep insurance. We need to put pressure on these companies to give a rebate or reduction in premium during this time. I am a nurse and work in the OR so I have seen the drastic decrease in OR cases even still with the ban finally lifted for elective procedures. Insurance companies shouldn’t be allowed to profit Significantly during a time where so many of us are struggling to afford basic necessities to survive. Please join me in putting pressure on insurance companies to do what is right and reduce health/dental care premiums.
