As a longstanding resident of our beloved community, I find myself compelled to voice strong reservations about the planned establishment of a transitional home for teens from foster care right in the heart of our residential neighborhood. The proposal poses potential risks to the local community, which we cannot overlook.

Our neighborhood has always valued safety and security, ensuring a harmonious environment for families to grow and thrive. However, the potential introduction of the transitional facility shakes this sentiment, raising fears about maintained security levels.

It's important to assert that we fully understand and appreciate the significance of transitional homes and, by no means, undervalue the vital support they give to foster teens. But, we also suggest that such a facility might be better suited in a more appropriate setting - potentially a location that is specifically designed to cater to the needs of these teens, equipped with proper security measures and professional support.

Lastly, I would like to stress that this petition is driven not by indifference towards foster teens, but by love for the community and an earnest desire to maintain the safety of our neighborhood. We urge Mayor Karen Bass to rethink this decision and consider suitable alternatives for the location of the transitional home.
