On December 11 in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, a resident of Lakecrest Apartments called the police to report a “suspicious person.” When the officers arrived, they found Chris “Patch” Sterusky sleeping in his vehicle. Sometime throughout the interaction, the police say there was an altercation. However, Chris was shot multiple times while inside of his vehicle. The police have not released much information to the public and have not given condolences to the grieving family. What we do know is that Chris was shot multiple times and did not have possession of a firearm. He was murdered by the people who are sworn to serve and protect his community. Chris was active in local PEACEFUL BLM protests in 2020 after Breonna Taylor was murdered just miles from our hometown. Our local police stood next to Chris as he and many others peacefully used their voice to defend the wrongful murders of people of color by authorities. Only to be murdered by those same officers a year later. We are demanding that we receive the body cam footage of this incident immediately from Kentucky State Police as well as to prosecute the officers who are responsible for his death. An intelligent black man was stolen from us this past weekend and justice NEEDS TO BE SERVED!
