We still have no news from the investor owner of 15a Horton Street, but we are still trying to get him to talk with us and withdraw his demand to remove the community verge garden. Please write to Marrickville Council and the mayor to let him know how important the verge garden is to you and your family: mgardiner@marrickville.nsw.gov.au We have asked Costa Georgiadis of Gardening Australia to visit the garden and film a story about the how verge gardening builds communities, just has they did for Wilga Avenue, Dulwich Hill in 2012. http://www.abc.net.au/gardening/stories/s3594620.htm And brother Tim has sent us an article from the Canberra Times about the Lyneham (Canberra) food forest on the verge which has 'national significance'! http://www.canberratimes.com.au/act-news/canberra-life/costa-georgiadis-says-food-forest-has-national-significance-20150702-gi36aw.html In the meantime spring planting on the Horton Street verge has begun with three varieties of kale, more broccoli, cauliflower, mustard (to distract the cabbage moth from eating the broccoli, kale an other Brassica plants!) lettuces, beetroot, more marigolds and parsley (to satisfy the insatiable demand) and a huge variety of spring flowers for the children. Thank you again for your support. It means so much to our neighbourhood.
