Changes to the new phase orange
The Issue
I am afraid
Not for the virus; but for what our community will come to during this pandemic.
Recent decisions are frightening.
We can go to a store, bar, restaurant, sports team and I can even work within a foot of my clients face ( according to work safe NB) but we can not see our family that does not live within our household.
I can work with the public every day for 8 - 12 hours at a time but I can’t take my mask off in a parking lot once I’ve reached an area where there is no one within 6 feet of me.
we should be aloud to remove the mask outdoors as long as we are within 6 feet of others. If children are allowed to remove the mask in school once they are at their desk and people are allowed to remove when drinking a beverage or eating at a restaurant, how does it make sense to keep it on while walking to your vehicle alone.
We should be allowed to see the most important people in our lives, our family. This is a human rights issue that we should not have to accept. People will start to lose respect when we lose basic human rights.
We need to decide in these times what we value as human beings. I want to be able to say that I am proud to live where I live and that I love my community. I am looking around and I see people’s mental health declining, I see people getting ticketed for removing their mask in the fresh air of a parking lot with no one around them, I see parents not being able to see their children and I see a city that is falling apart. I do not want to fear the government that is supposed to be for the people.
We need to rethink the rules set in place of the new code orange. These rules contradict each other and do not make sense.
Wearing a mask in an outdoor public space should NOT be mandatory if you are within 6 feet distance of others. This includes walking trails, parking lots and other outdoor public spaces.
We should be allowed to see family members as part of our family bubble.
We will be heard.
