Blacktown City Netball deserve safe playing courts

The issue

Over 2500 players aged from 6 years to adult play netball at Blacktown City Netball Association (BCNA) Courts, Boyd St Blacktown behind Blacktown Aquatic Centre. These players are coached, managed, umpired and administered by hundreds of volunteers who give up their time for the love of our sport and for their community.
BCNA courts are in atrocious conditions and Blacktown City Council have failed to maintain them to a safe standard. Despite BCNA’s regular requests for repair and maintenance, it is a constant battle to get the bare necessities to allow play to safely continue at BCNA.

Other sports in Blacktown City Council, predominantly male participants, have received grants in excess of $150,000 and new or adequate playing grounds for organisations of less than 500 members. This is unacceptable that Blacktown City Council shows such disrespect to women’s sport, a sport that has over 2500 members of its community participating in on a weekly basis.

Our members need and deserve safe playing courts. Courts that are level, free from trip hazards and cracks, free from slippery surfaces, free of grass growing along a cement court through the cracks.
Show your support for our netball community and for women’s sport in Blacktown City before our members give up or are injured due to the disgraceful conditions they are left with.
