BwD to review Traffic Safety measures throughout Blackburn with Darwen
Why this petition matters
We are calling on Blackburn with Darwen Council, along with MP Kate Hollern, to work in partnership with Lancashire Road Safety to review road safety within our area.
Recently we have seen a number of serious crashes in the area, and this is despite many residents highlighting their concerns to both the police and the local council.
This campaign requests a review in all areas, but there are particular roads that need to be reviewed urgently, mainly due to racing between cars. Areas highlighted by residents include Livesey Branch Road, Preston Old Road, Bolton Road (Ewood) and Pleckgate Rd, and Tower Road leading to Pleasington Cemetery. We expect more to be highlighted with this campaign and invite residents to contact us to highlight areas of concern.
Traffic calming measures need to be put in place, we do not expect this just to mean that speed bumps are placed everywhere. We would like the identified areas to be reviewed and the best traffic calming measure identified for that area.
Studies have shown that traffic calming can reduce accident levels by up to 40%, and have a significant impact on reducing the severity of accidents
We do not want to see lives ruined by careless drivers, this includes both the drivers and other parties involved such as other road users or pedestrians.
Many people in Blackburn with Darwen will have been effected by road traffic accidents, we politely ask residents to support this campaign to keep our roads safe now and in the future.
We are now adding more roads as requested by Blackburn with Darwen residents:
Lammack Rd, Whinney Lane, Broken Stone Rd, Shorrock Lane
