Dear Residents and Neighbours of Brockhall Village and Old Langho

Were you aware that Blackburn Rovers Football Club (BRFC) are planning to demolish the Senior Training Site at the entrance to Brockhall Village and sell off the land for 170 new houses to be built?

SIGN THIS PETITION AND SAY NO TO…

Blackburn Rovers Football Club (BRFC) planning proposals on Brockhall Village:

Demolition of the Senior Training Centre on Gleneagles Drive in order to build up to 170 NEW HOUSES on the site.

Amalgamation of the seniors and juniors onto the Franklin Hill Site with the building of a new indoor training facility and extra car parking spaces.

WHY SAY NO…?

In reference to the Ribble Valley Borough Council (RVBC) Core Strategy:

Upto 170 NEW HOUSES...Langho/Old Langho/Brockhall Village is already OVERSUBSCRIBED with its housing allocation.  It is listed as a Tier 2 village and is not allocated for any major housing developments up to 2028. (DS1, DMG2)

INCREASED TRAFFIC on surrounding minor roads and A59 ...The new development would be heavily reliant on access via private car and the need to travel for employment, shopping etc - not adequate amenities in the immediate area and lack of frequent public transport links from Brockhall to main areas of Clitheroe, Whalley, Blackburn. (DMG3)

SAFETY - Increased BRFC traffic through Brockhall Village to the Franklin Hill Site, which has no streetlights or pavement. (DMG1)

ACCESS to new development and Brockhall Village all via Gleneagles Drive - implications on road safety due to the scale of extra traffic using the only access route. (DMG1)

LOSS OF FOOTBALL PITCHES -  High Quality Pitches for grassroots sport have been identified as IN DEMAND in the Ribble Valley. (DMG1)

Pressure on INFRASTRUCTURE from a potential 400+ new residents - School places, GP’s Surgeries, Dentists. (DMG1)
SIGNIFICANT SIZED BUILDING - Proposed new training facility building would be larger and taller than the current one storey building. Sitting outside of the Brockhall Village boundary it would be out of character with its surroundings in a designated area of OPEN COUNTRYSIDE. (DMG2, DMH3)

BRFC‘s claim that they intend to offer their facilities for the benefit of the children of Old Langho can only be seen as a ploy to get residents on board. After all, they have been on the site for over 25 years and in that whole time have not once opened their facilities to residents.

The Old Langho and Brockhall Village Residents‘ Action Group are trying to stop these TWO developments but we need your support. Please take a few moments to sign this online petition.
