Today Tuesday 7th July the Justice Committee started their inquiry into Private Prosecutions.  This was after the CCRC (Criminal Cases Review Commission) asked that they investigate whether private prosecutions should continue to go ahead and if so what safeguards should be in place to ensure full disclosure and fairness.  THE CCRC asked for this inquiry after referring a history breaking 47 cases to the Court of Appeal for breach of process by government owned Post Office Ltd.  They are also reviewing a further 7 cases and Post Office have said they have unearthed at least a further 500 cases of private prosecutions since the year 2000 that maybe unsafe.  Today saw evidence from the investigators of Second Sight, Ron Warmington and Ian Henderson.  They were brought in to investigate Horizon and to seek the truth 'at all costs', however when uncovering evidence that Post Office Ltd did not like they were blocked and finally had their contract terminated prior to producing their final report.  Post Office then released their own report basically rubbishing that final report of Second Sight.  Still to this day Post Office Ltd fail to acknowledge that they terminated the contract in this way despite Second Sight using Parliamentary Privilege to speak the truth.  You can see and listen to the evidence session in Parliament today, a very very interesting watch :-

The crowdjustice fundraising now stands at £64,124 leaving us £33,876 short of our £98,000 target which needs to be hit within 7 days otherwise those pledges are not charged to the persons bank card.  If we are not able to hit that target then the complaint to the Parliamentary Ombudsman will not be able to take place and victims will have to see what or if MP's are able to do anything further to seek justice and redress to all involved.

As I wrote in my latest update I will be starting my fundraising C2C cycle challenge from Whitehaven to Sunderland tomorrow afternoon Wednesday 8th July 2020.  This consists of a 136 mile journey completed within a 72 hour time frame passing through Keswick in the Lake District, Penrith, Allendale, Consett and finally ending up on the coast of Sunderland at Roker.  It will be started with the rear bike wheel in the Irish Sea and finished with the front wheel in the North Sea once the coast to coast journey is complete.  I would like to thank all those who have kindly donated and shared the fundraising page so far but we have a long way to go to raise the funds that are much needed.  From the fundraising 25% of the total amounts raised will be going to a number of charities.  These consist of NHS Charities, Mental Health Charity 'Mind' and Food Banks.  All these charities have helped Post Office Scandal victims over the years and recently during this Covid-19 pandemic they have helped millions of people, it is our way of giving back.  If we reach the £50,000 target that I set it will now see more than 30% handed to those charities as the amount needed for the Post Office Scandal reduces day by day.  Remember any amounts beyond the £50,000 - 100% of this will go to those charities.......all of these are extremely good causes.  Here is the link again below to donate and share with friends, family, colleagues and local businesses :-

I will attempt to get another update out during the Cycle Challenge about where I am on my journey.
